A unique photo album of 116 historical photographs (with original captions) about Grenfell Mission and People, Ice break-up, Mail boat, Mail plane, Medley of Photographs and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Air Transfers in Nain – Nunatsiavut, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada 1965-66. It paints a beautiful portrait of how the challenges to do with transportation (ice break-up, mail boat, mail plane,) as well as the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) teachers' air transfer to their coastal settlements were both overcome. Includes a selection of people and photographs of the Grenfell mission. Photographs by John Penny an 18 year old Voluntary Service Overseas teacher from the UK who lived and worked in the local community. They make an important contribution to the cultural, educational and natural history of the period and depict the rich tapestry of life at the time. Each photo album focuses on different aspects of the community's way of life.
